Mollie Crenshaw was a well-known witch that lived in Cottleville over 100 years ago. According to a  newspaper story in the St. Charles Cosmos-Monitor,  Molly Crenshaw committed suicide by swallowing acid on Oct. 3rd, at 10:20 pm. Mollie's evil reputation scared the locals so much that they decided to chop her body into pieces and bury her in multiple locations so that she couldn't haunt from the grave. Unfortunately, it didn't work.

Through the six years of putting on this event, many of our volunteers have experienced paranormal phenomena.

Jen Spellazza, former event chairperson: "I heard a woman's voice whisper and actually felt someone touch my arm. I turned around and no one was there. That was it for me."

Jodi Darrohn, former volunteer: "I think Mollie may not like other women in her field or something. I had fingernail marks appear on my leg after I felt someone scratch the back of my leg. You couldn't pay me to go back there."

It is well known that one of the original grave locations is just east of what is now Legacy Park...exactly where our haunted trail ends.
